Jackie over @Room213tpt has outdone herself with her new Animal Farm stations. Such an engaging way to get learners to start thinking in the world of the story. I just always love her designs.

Not only that, but she's always giving us such variety of teaching ideas and encouragement that you're going to want to follow her IG feed. Your days will be better for it.

Students want to talk deep about the stories we read and to figure out how it all connects with what they believe about life. They often just don't know how.

That's why we love this activity. I usually do it before and after we read the novel, but it could be done in the middle of reading or all after.

The students write down their biases about a few topics from the story. Then they have an engaging discussion about wht they feel the way they do.

It is always one of their favorite days of the reading journey. They love it!

Wow. Just. Wow. Danielle at @nouvelle_ela has created 6 Escape Room activities for your ELA learners. Back to School, Shakespeare's London, Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night's Dream, The Odyssey, & Lord of the Flies. If you've never done an escape room (we did one where we had to escape a sinking ship and a different one where we had to diffuse a bomb in a movie theater ... died both times), just know that they're super fun and engaging in real life, and they're going to suck your learners into these story units.
